Handbag MOQ is often the first question from a brand planning a new collection: how many bags do we need to order to start production? The answer depends on the product design, materials, colors, and customization requirements.
At Mingye, our standard minimum order quantity is 100 pieces per style, with a minimum of 50 pieces per color. This means you can order 100 pieces in one color, or split the order into two colors with 50 pieces per color, subject to material availability and production requirements.
For example, you can order 50 black handbags and 50 beige handbags in the same style, for a total of 100 pieces. Before confirming your order, our team will review your design, materials, hardware, and color requirements to provide an accurate MOQ and quotation.
What might raise the minimum?
Custom components are the main thing to check. A new metal logo, clasp, or specially finished piece of hardware may have its own supplier minimum or tooling cost. The same can apply to a specially developed outer material, lining, or package.
For example, a shoulder bag in two colors using available materials and standard hardware is a different project from the same bag with a newly made clasp. The finished bags may look similar, but the sourcing requirements are not.
Tell us which details are essential. If you are open to an available material or standard fitting, we can assess whether it works for your design and planned quantity.
Why does a small order cost more per bag?
A 50-piece order still needs pattern work, material sourcing, production setup, and quality checks. Those costs are spread across fewer bags, so the unit price is usually higher than it would be for a larger order.
We can quote different quantities if you want to compare a test order with a larger production run. The right quantity depends on your budget and how many bags you expect to sell—not just the lowest possible unit price.
How does the sample fee work?
If you ask us to develop a sample on its own, we charge a sample fee. We will explain the fee before starting.
If you later place a bulk order for the approved bag, the sample fee you paid is deducted from the total amount of that bulk order. The fee is paid at the sampling stage; it is then credited when the project moves into bulk production.
Before sampling, we will confirm the design and materials. If you want to make changes after seeing the sample, we will discuss those changes before proceeding.
What should you send us?
A first inquiry does not need to be a complete technical pack. Send what you have:
- Photos, sketches, or an existing sample of the bag
- Approximate dimensions
- Preferred outer material, lining, and hardware
- Logo and packaging requirements
- Planned quantity for each color
Also tell us what is still undecided. We can then give you a more useful answer about MOQ, sampling, and price than we could from a photo alone.
